A suprise in my cornbread

I always use my grandmother's cornbread recipe. When I got it out of the oven this is what I found. 

Since I shared the picture I will share her recipe.

Granny Brown's southern cornbread recipe.

1large egg
1 1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil. (I use canola oil)
2 cups corn meal (I use White Lilly buttermilk corn meal)

Heat oven to 450 degrees
Using an 8" or 9" skillet (I like to use cast iron like she did)
Grease skillet and put in oven and let it be getting hot.
Beat egg, Stir in milk, oil & meal till smooth.
Pour in hot skillet. (Be careful!)
Bake 20-25 minutes till brown.

If you are using muffin or cornstick pan, grease and pre-heat pan like above but heat 7-8 minutes. Fill each one 2/3 full. Bake at 450 degrees for 15-20 min.
